The Irish Mini Golf Association (IMGA) has been informed by the World Minigolf Federation of the World Adventure Golf Masters which is scheduled to take place in Hastings, near London in the UK on the 13th-14th May 2011.
The event is being organised by the British Mini Golf Association (BMGA) and has 3 different categories, youth male/female senior male/female and a team event consisting of 4 players per team.
The competition is ran over 4 days, each player in the different individual categories completes 6 qualifying rounds of Adventure Golf. The top 18 players in each category then qualify for the final round with the winner of the final becoming the World Adventure Golf Masters Champion. The team event follows the same format, 6 qualifying rounds with the top 6 teams qualifying for the final round.
There are cash prizes on offer for all the individual category winners including the team winners. There is also a cash prize for the top three players in the overall individual competition. The total prize money for the competition is valued at €3,000
The schedule for the World Adventure Golf Masters is:
Wednesday 11th May 2011:
- 9am – 5pm: Official training for all participants.
- 3pm: Official inspection of the courses by the World Minigolf Federation
Thursday 12th May 2011
9am – 5pm: Official training for all participants
6pm: Opening ceremony
Friday 13th May 2011
9am - The opening 4 rounds for all participants in each category.
Saturday 14th May 2011
9pm - The two final rounds for all participants.
1pm - Team final
3pm - Individual final for the best placed 18 players across all categories.
Medal ceremony takes place when the final round concludes.
6pm Closing ceremony
The Irish Mini Golf Association, the national Mini Golf Association representing Ireland would like to welcome any new members that are interested in joining. The IMGA plan to organise regular competitions throughout the year as well as visits to other Mini Golf courses throughout Ireland and abroad, with a view to sending participants/teams to World Minigolf endorsed competitions in the future.
The IMGA have a special rate of €6 to play 2 fun competition rounds of Mini Golf at Indoor Mini Golf every other Thursday evening from 8.30pm with free tea/coffee/hot chocolate served in the viewing balcony afterwards.
Cole Golf have agreed to sponsor an IMGA competition every month offering golf equipment prizes, such as putters, bags etc.
